99-Year-Old Sprinter Claims 100-M Record

A 99-year-old woman from New York has claimed a new record for being the world’s fastest sprinter of her age in a 100-meter race.

Ida Keeling joined the race at the Gay Games in Akron, Ohio on August 12, 2014. She finished last, but she made a record for herself.

Shelley Keeling, Ida’s daughter and coach, says her time was 59.8 seconds, making Ida the only woman at her age to run that fast.

Back in 2011, Ida Keeling set a world record in a 60-meter race for her age at 95.
