Why Japanese Stores Have Orange Balls

If you’re going to visit Japan, you’ll see an orange ball in almost every store. But no, they’re not for sale. The video below explains why.

On the third video in the “Only in Japan” series by Stippy, an association of foreigners who have lived in Japan for a long time, a foreigner enters several stores in Japan wanting to buy the orange ball.

But apparently, he was told that they’re not selling those balls. One Japanese store clerk explained to him that those orange balls serve as an anti-theft device.
