Make This DIY Cat Tree for Your Home

There is no end to DIY projects, but many of the crowd favorites tend to be for animals in our homes, not for humans. In fact, some of the DIY projects for pets can be quite elaborate, but others can be rather simplistic. This project falls somewhere in the middle but once you have it in the home, your cats will love you for it!

It is a cat climbing station, and it not only provides a safe and enjoyable place for your cats to play, it looks quite nice in the living room as well! All it really takes is to find the right tree branch and from that point, you can fashion it into something epic that your cats are going to love!

1

The Imgur user who designed this DIY project found a branch when she was out for a walk with her cat. She decided that it was something she could take home and make into a playground tree that her pet would enjoy.

The first thing that she did was to trim the branches and make sure it would fit in the area.

2

The bark was stripped by hand and she chiseled off any rough edges.

3

A slab from a fallen ash tree was used as the base for this project. Large anchors were used to attach it to the base of the tree branch structure.

4

The lowest platform was mounted on small angle brackets, which were attached to the main trunk.

5

The same fallen ash tree that served as a base was also used to form the lower platform. She carved the piece of ash until it fit perfectly.

6

This is a sneak peek of how the progress is going.

If you look on the floor behind the tree, you will see wood shavings from the ongoing project.

7

Two more platforms were attached onto the branches and then an elongated platform was mounted at the top of the tree.

A bracket was fastened under the platform to provide additional stability.

8

Her initial plan was to use a small ladder to provide an easy and fun way for the cat to climb from one platform to the next.

9

After further consideration, she decided to build a small tunnel for the top platform. Since it was 7 feet off the ground, it provided a safer perch.

10

The side of the tube was cut for easy access and a piece of carpet was wrapped on the outside and inside surfaces.

It provided an easy way for the cat to crawl around and it also provided a comfortable area for the cat to relax.

11

Polyurethane was used to finish off the branches and she then placed the finished product in the corner of the living room.

In order to ensure the safety of her cat, she secured the tree to a stud in the wall with a bracket. This helped to stabilize the structure.

12

It only takes one look to see how happy the cat is with her new perch!

13

The structure was tucked away in the corner of the room. It didn’t obstruct any view from the room but it provided an awesome view for the cat!

14

Not only is this design simplistic, it is absolutely brilliant! There is no doubt that this young woman is quite talented and we look forward to seeing more DIY projects from her in the future.
