Maya is one lucky pup.
Not only does she have an awesome forever home with her family, but she also has a little sweet little getaway — built with love, just for her.
Maya’s dad David Connolly Owns the Fencing Decking Specialists NI in the UK. And whenever possible, he likes to take his pup along to job sites with him. But there are other times when Maya must stay at home.
Connolly noticed that Maya would much prefer to hang out in their backyard on those instances where she needed to stay home alone. So he decided to create a space as cozy as possible for her — by building a cozy little cabin Maya could call her own.
Although the cabin may look a bit rustic, there’s no shortage of modern amenities at Maya’s paw-tips to keep her happy and content (and she certainly is that).
“It has an insulated floor, porch, night light and a small heater as well, for the winter time,” Connolly told The Dodo, adding: “I built her cabin raised off the ground so as when she is lying inside her bedroom or on her balcony deck she can see over the top of the fence at passersby.”
For an outdoor-loving dog, the luxury of having a roof over her head is quite the luxury, especially on those rainy days in the UK (and there are quite a few).
When Connolly comes home at the end of the day, Maya always prefers to stay right by his side in the main house. But for those times occasions when he’s not back until after sunset, Connolly made sure Maya wasn’t left in the dark.
For Connolly, going the extra mile to create this luxurious little cabin for his pup was his way of showing her just how much she means to him.
“Maya is my best friend,” he said. “She is a loyal companion and I am trying my best to make her life as enjoyable and comfortable for her as I possibly can. Building her a comfortable little home is the least I could do.”
And while Maya is lucky to have such a cozy little home away from home while Connolly’s away, the best times are still when the two of them are together. They enjoy going on hikes, playing, or simply lounging around together on the couch. The cabin is just an extra gesture of affection for those times in between.
“I believe dogs have a short time on this earth and we all must strive to take as much care and give them as much love as we can,” Connolly said.
I never thought in a million years that I would ever be jealous of a dog house, but there you have it, folks!
