In the five years that Kristin Wolf and her pup Fenway have lived together, the two would rarely sleep apart from each other.
The lab-pitbull mix just loves to snuggle up to his mom, and Wolf says she feels safest when Fenway is nearby. But recently, she’s started to doubt that sharing a bed with her pup was starting to hurt her sleep.
“I always was waking up laying sideways or even at the foot of my bed,” Wolf told The Dodo.
But Wolf didn’t want to just blame poor Fenway for her nocturnal troubles if that wasn’t the case.
So she decided to find out the truth for herself
Wolf purchased a security camera and set it up in her bedroom. Of course, Fenway had no way of knowing that his nightly movements were being recording via a time-lapse video.
But when Wolf saw the video the next morning, she was surprised to see that Fenway was mostly calm during the night. In fact, it turns out that Wolf was the one disturbing Fenway’s sleep when all the pup really wanted to do was snuggle with his mom.
“What I learned was that I think it’s actually me who moves a lot,” Wolf said. “[I] didn’t realize he stays that close all night.”
Wolf posted her video on Facebook, where hundreds of dog moms and dads could not help but relate.
“So grateful my dog lets me sleep in the corner of his bed,” Wolf wrote on Facebook. “This was actually a good night and he let me sleep in.”
Sadly, Fenway suffers from blastomycosis, a life-threatening fungal disease. After several hard years of fighting, the pup is now in remission. But his health definitely affects the way he sleeps — something Wolf noticed in the video.
“When he was sick he was even more cuddly,” Wolf said. “He was always under my arms as little spoon. Now, he’s back to preferring the bend of my knees.”
