What many people don’t realize is that, when you walk into a store, you are being carefully directed exactly where they want you to go. For example, grocery stores realize that if they get you into the aisles, you will spend a lot more money and they do research to ensure that it happens.
This is not only an issue in stores but even model homes have begun to use this principle. In fact, some rather lively conversation has been sparked online thanks to this photograph.
The photo was a home in South Carolina and it was posted to Reddit a few days ago. It had the caption “They had one job.” When the Reddit user passed by the home, he noticed that there was something strange about it but it took us a little while to figure it out.
Do you see the problem? If you look carefully, you will notice that the driveway is not leading up to the garage door! Many people who see this might feel that it is a design flaw but there are also some people who feel that it was an intentional “mistake.”
Just as grocery stores and other shopping stores try to direct you, it seems that this also happens in many model homes. The driveway is a parking lot for those who want to see the model home but they want people to walk into the front door. After the neighborhood has sold out, a new driveway will be poured.
In essence, they are trying to force people to walk into the sales office rather than looking through the home on their own. In that way, they can be given a personal tour and it is more likely for the neighborhood to land the sale.
