A man absolutely would not tell doctors the real reason why he was so constipated due to “embarrassment” and a big “fear of his wife.”
The New York Post reported on the case of an Iranian man who went to the doctor due to constipation issues as initially published in the Clinical Case Reports Journal.
The article speaks of how the 50-year-old married man arrived at the hospital with his wife, who had become concerned for her husband after he stopped eating due to constipation and severe abdominal pain.
However, rather than admit to what he’d done, the man chose to remain silent until doctors came back with his CT scan.
It turned out the man had inserted a plastic bottle with 250mls of water into his rectum on February 10, 2022. the bottle remained up there for three days until his wife finally took him to the emergency room.
He continued to keep his secret as he underwent routine exams, all of which reported he had typical vital signs with no abnormalities to report.
However, once the ultrasound results came back, it was clear the man had a foreign object inside his body, prompting doctors to stake a CT scan of his pelvis and abdomen region.
The bottle is said to have measured 193mm x 47mm and had been inserted bottom-first in hopes he could use the narrow top to more easily grip the bottle for removal.
Once doctors understood the issue, the man required immediate surgery. Thankfully, the surgeon manages to slowly “drag” the object out without causing any ruptures or bleeding.
The man was discharged from the hospital five days later and referred to a psychiatric clinic.
After his one-month check-up, doctors determined the man’s physical health was back to normal. However, the status of the man’s relationship with his wife is unknown.
