We live in a world where you never quite know what is going to happen from one day to the next. It always seems as if the news is bizarre and in most cases, it is bizarre in a way that we may never have even thought of previously.
One of the ways that the world has changed in recent years is due to protests. Of course, protests have always been a way of life for many people and in decades past, there may have been many staged in different areas.
In more recent years, however, the protests seem to be about almost anything and people are not afraid to do the unthinkable in order to get their point across. It seems as if a 36-year-old man in France was able to do that by defacing one of the most famous paintings at the Louvre.
The man was arrested after he went up to the glass case containing the Mona Lisa and smeared it with cake. He claims that it was for artists that were not focusing on the planet enough, but they ended up putting him in a mental institution for psychiatric care.
In the video, you could hear him speaking in French and he is saying: “There are people who are destroying the Earth … All artists, think about the Earth. That’s why I did this. Think of the planet.”
Fortunately, the bulletproof glass case that holds the Mona Lisa was able to protect that work from damage. It’s a good thing because it has been hundreds of years since it was painted by Leonardo da Vinci and people still appreciate it down to this day.
The Guardian is reporting that the Louvre is not commenting on the incident.
