One of the events that is often looked for in the Oscars is the in-memorandum tribute. It looks back over the many celebrities who had passed away the previous year.
Although we often look to the in-memorandum tribute to see if they have something to say about our favorite actor or singer, they skipped one that was noteworthy this year. Michelle Trachtenberg was only 39 years old when she passed away last month.
After missing that particular tribute, many people took to social media to call them out for their mistake. It was too bad, because the Gossip Girl actress had passed away in New York at the age of 39 and died shortly after.
Trachtenberg played recurring roles in a number of noteworthy shows, including Gossip Girls, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. She also appeared in movies, including 17 Again and Ice Princess.
A statement was released after her death by a family representative. It simply said: “It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss.”
Many people took to social media to pay their respects and to give tribute, but it was completely missed at the 97th Academy Awards. Her fans were not pleased that she was missed.
Much of the focus for that part of the award show was on Gene Hackman, who was given tribute by friend and fellow actor, Morgan Freeman.
