You never quite know what type of situation you’re going to find yourself in from day-to-day. At times, everything goes as planned but at other times, a life can be change in an instant.
Nobody knows this better than Annabelle Stevens. She is a 21-year-old woman who sometimes uses DoorDash to order food. That is what she did on this particular evening but she had no idea that it is going to change a life in the process. In fact, it was a stranger but that didn’t stand in the way of destiny.
When the doorbell rang, there was an elderly man standing on the other side of her door delivering her food. It was obvious that he had a difficult time getting to the door and she was heartbroken as she watched him doing it.
She said: “Honestly, it made me super sad. I knew if that were my grandpa, I wouldn’t want to see him working.”
Annabelle wanted to help them out so she gave him a $30 tip. That was very generous of her, considering the fact that she only ordered $21 worth of food.
She then took her generosity and the video that she had of the event and posted it on tick-tock. She wanted to use the attention that she got from the viral video to make as much money as possible for the stranger that delivered food her that day.

At first, she went to DoorDash in an attempt to find out the information but
the company isn’t permitted to give out personal details of their drivers. They had to contact the driver first and he never picked up the phone when they called.
That didn’t stop her enthusiasm and she continued to post updates, hoping that someone would be able to give her information about the driver. After all, the original video already had been viewed 12 million times and certainly, somebody must have known who it was.
That is when the driver’s son reached out to Annabelle. She said: “I’m working on setting up a meeting with Kerry! His son reached out and said he’s a very private man. He’s been working basically his entire life and has gone through lots of hardships. I gave his son my number and I am now waiting for Kerry to reach out to me so we can set up a meeting and hopefully help this man retire!”
Finally, she was aware of the driver and his name. It was Kerry Judd and he gave her some personal information, although he tended to be a private individual.
As it turns out, he was 71 years old and his wife had died in 2011. He took care of his two sons and he works as a driver for that delivery service as well as a security guard. The income isn’t always reliable from delivering and he had some health issues so he was struggling.
He said: “It isn’t easy with DoorDash basic pay of $2.50 per delivery. DoorDash fees are expensive so people don’t always tip because times are tough and there are times they are not able to go out so they order DoorDash.”
Annabelle decided that she would share the information on GoFundMe and people step forward to help with his struggles. First it was slow but soon it skyrocketed.
Within a month, more than $107,000 has been raised. They also had the opportunity to meet in person and have dinner together, where she found out that he was funny and sweet.
Annabelle wrote, “I can’t begin to describe the amount of support from across the world! This is beyond words and beyond what I could ever imagine! This is life changing for Kerry and that is ALL from you guys!!!”
