If you have been paying attention to what has happened in 2016, you have to admit that it is been a very difficult year. It seems that on almost a continuous basis, we lost one celebrity after another, including David Bowie, Prince, Muhamed Ali and most recently, Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds. The problem is, there are still a few days left in the year and we don’t know where it might set its next target.
I began to notice that “Betty White” was starting to trend on twitter and I was thinking the worst, that she had fallen victim to 2016 and was just another name in the long list of celebrities that we lost. Fortunately, I was wrong and there is actually an amazing reason why she was such a popular search in that social platform.
When most people think about Betty White, they consider her to be nothing short of a national treasure. Most people remember her from her role on the Golden Girls, but it goes back much further.
As it turned out, a man by the name of Demetrios Hrysikos established a Gofundme page, hoping to collect $2000 and he would use the money to protect Betty White from 2016 until we enter into the next year.
According to Hrysikos, “If she’s okay with it, I will fly to where ever Betty White is and keep her safe till Jan 1, 2017.”
Of course, there is little chance that she will take him up on his offer and if that is the case, all of the proceeds will go to support the Spartanburg Little theater.
Even though that was the case, it didn’t stop Twitter users from pushing the panic button.

Y’all, we gotta find Betty White and put her in a secure storage facility with 24/7 maximum protection security. 2016 will NOT take her too. pic.twitter.com/h45tHsL44d
