A mother in California refuses to allow her son to complete the homework assigned by his teacher. The assignment was on Islam and rather than completing the work, she attached an angry note for the teacher.
This took place in Bakersfield, California, and the mother (Tara Cali) has started a Facebook post that has absolutely gone viral. On the Facebook post is a picture of the homework sheet as she returned it the following day.
According to the assignment, the seventh graders in the class were to name the five pillars of Islam. They were also asked to give a summary of Islamic beliefs and practices.
Interestingly, the homework also included a QR code and when it was scanned with a cell phone, it allows the students to hear an online Muslim prayer.
The mother fired back a note stating that her son would “not be a part of this in any sort of way.” It ended with the direction to contact her lawyer if there were any questions.
In addition to the personal note to the teacher, scriptures were referenced and the woman noted that no homework had been sent home on Christianity.

After posting this message to Facebook, it has been shared well over 100,000 times in the first week alone.
Although this has been a popular post on a number of levels, many of the top commenters feel as if she is wrong about her statements. They claim that in California, information about both Islam and Christianity are taught in the school system.
