If you haven’t heard the life story of the one-legged soccer player Nico Calabria, it’s time that you do. Born with only one leg, Nico has been proving all his life that disability is never a hinder to success. When he turned 5, he gave up his prosthetic leg and used a forearm crutches instead. At the age of 13, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and raised more than $100,000 for charity.
He grew up playing sports that are known to people with two legs – wrestling, gymnastics, and soccer. Now 19 years old, Nico is the youngest member of the U.S. National Amputee Soccer team. Watch his life story in the 2-minute Powerade campaign (video below) for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and be inspired.
