A mother from Orrville, Ohio gave birth to her identical twins just days before Mother’s Day. But amazingly, the twins were born holding hands, just like telling to each other, “We can make it together.” Watch the news video below.
Sarah Thistlewaite, who also has a 15-month-old son, gave birth at the Akron General Medical Center to two healthy girls named Jenna and Jillian. This is after spending almost two months in the said hospital because of the twin’s rare condition.
According to the doctors, the twins had a rare condition called monoamniotic, or “mono mono.” This means that the fetuses are in a nearly-constant contact during the entire pregnancy. This is the best explanation why the twins were born holding each other’s hand.
Mono mono twins are considered very delicate because they can easily become entangled in each other’s umbilical cords. This is a very rare occurrence, it only happens in about 1% of twin pregnancies.
