There are certain things that all of us want out of life. We want to make sure that we are happy, healthy and have enough to get life’s necessities. There is also something else that all of us strive for in our lifetime, comfortable undergarments. For some of us, it means wearing something that is going to be seen and for others, it’s about just being as comfortable as possible, regardless of how you look. You might not think about it very often but you know that it’s true.
When you really get down to it, we all buy any garment to ensure that we are comfortable and to look our best and that would include our underwear. After all, it wouldn’t do us any good to look perfect as far as what we could see was concerned but underneath our clothing, we were uncomfortable and knew that something wasn’t just quite right. Perhaps that is why it should be no surprise that there is a new fashion trend in undergarments, denim underwear!
You heard me right, denim underwear is a real thing and it is made out of real denim. When I first heard about it, I could hardly contain my excitement.
It wasn’t just a matter of wanting to try a pair for myself, I just had a lot of questions that were going to be unanswered until I was able to try a pair on. How would it feel to have denim touching such sensitive areas and is it really necessary?
You also have to wonder if they have pockets, if they button or if you can sew a patch on it should they get a hole in them. You’ll be happy to know that the answer is yes to all of those questions.
Now we get around to the interesting part, the price. Believe it or not, you are going to be paying about £235 for a pair, which is over $300 if you happen to be spending US dollars for them.
In addition, you will have a difficult time buying them in the first place because they are a popular item. Many of the sizes are already sold out, so that can only mean one thing. There are people everywhere who are walking around with denim underwear under there.
The description on the Ssense website reads: “Denim brief-style shorts in navy. Fading throughout. Mid-rise. Three-pocket styling. Belt-loops at waistband. Copper-tone hardware. Tonal stitching. 100% cotton. Imported.”
You’ll also be happy to know that you don’t have to get a faded pair if you don’t want them. More than likely, you are going to be as particular about your denim underwear as you are about your denim jeans.
It may seem unusual but it has the backing of a Paris-based label, Y/PROJECT. They describe themselves as “conceptual and inventive” with “playful proportions and a witty take on historical references.” After all, they are selling jeans without the legs.
If you think that the denim underwear is bizarre, they have some other items that are on the fringe as well. They include denim cuff lounge pants and a long-stretch wool off the shoulder blazer.
Trends come and go, and we’re not sure if we want this one to keep going or not. For now, I may not be investing $300 but I’d love to be the first one on my block to have them.
