There is something that all of us have in common, and that’s the fact that we must get sleep. Some of us need more sleep than others, but without it, we couldn’t survive. Although we have that one factor in common, that is where the sleeping similarities end. You will be amazed to see how people in other parts of the world sleep, and it is possible through these pictures.
These images were taken by John Thackwray, who is a photographer from South Africa. He took a trip around the world, setting up a camera above the bedrooms of local residents. It was known as the “My Room Project” and it really documented the different lifestyles and cultural differences as far as our sleeping is concerned.
55 countries were represented in this project and more than 1000 people took part in it. These 18 pictures will give you a taste for what this project brought to light.
