US Marine Gunnery Sergeant Brian Meyer has managed to smile even after he lost his limbs over an explosion.
Meyer was on third combat deployment as a bomb technician in Afghanistan in 2011 when the tragedy happened. He was then 29 years old.
Meyer was trying to defuse an explosive device but it exploded prematurely. He lost his right hand, his right leg above the knee, and lost three fingers of his left hand.
While receiving treatment on the battlefield, Meyer asked a fellow soldier to take a photo of him smiling.
