A video titled “Grandma Drummer” was uploaded on YouTube in July 2013 and immediately went viral. And yes, this grandma rocks.
The elderly woman was later identified as Mary Hvizda of Onalaska, Wisconsin. She was at the Coalition Drum Shop in La Crosse, playing the 1963 instrumental single “Wipe Out.”
The 63-year old lady rocker took up drumming at the age of 15, and pioneered the first all-girl rock band during her younger years. Mary’s last band broke up in 1990, and she was forced to sell her drum kit.
