Photos of Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross Show Why Their 40-Year Romance Isn’t Cooling Down Anytime Soon

Hollywood couples that enjoy lifelong romances is truly something special that makes our hearts melt as fans. For actor Sam Elliott, who has been and still is a heartthrob for millions of ladies around the world, there’s only one woman who will ever own his heart. And his 40-year romance with Katharine ross proves that beyond a doubt!

The two first met in 1978 on the set of a horror movie called The Legacy, in which the two starred as lovers, go figure!

While this was the first time the two had worked together in a professional sense, Elliott claims that he had actually seen his future wife when he had a small role in Butch Cassidy.

“I didn’t dare try to talk to her then. She was the leading lady. I was a shadow on the wall, a glorified extra in a bar scene,” he told AARP.

Ross was five years older than Elliott at the time and married to her fourth husband. Meanwhile, Elliott had never been married before. She went on to divorce her fourth husband in 1979 and later married Elliott in 1984. The same year the couple welcomed their daughter Cleo Rose into the world.

People have said time and time again that dating someone in the industry is almost a sure-fire recipe for disaster, especially if you’re a famous actor. Elliott even passed up a role in the 1985 hit film The Mask because he was on his honeymoon with Ross. Elliott told his agent that there was no way he was going to leave his honeymoon to test for the role, but Ross called his agent back later on and said she would ensure that he was back in time.

Now, that’s what you call equal support!

Over the years the two have undeniably proven that they are genuine soulmates. They are still going strong to this day and even had the opportunity to work together on-screen again in the 2017 film The Hero. In the film, Ross played his ex-wife, and she described the movie as “a really moving story.”

Previously, Ross had stated that she belives joint project such as their time spent together on The Hero helps nurture their relationship.

“Sometimes that’s easier than real life. You’re [sic] got a script. You’ve got a part. You’ve got your creative juices flowing together. It’s not about the dirty dishes in the sink or whether you’ve picked something up at the laundry. …”

Elliott has also spoken about how they make their relationship and love life last. He’s definitely on the same page as Ross as he says, “We have a common sensibility, but we also work at being together. You work past the s–t; you don’t walk away from it. That’s how relationships last.”

What a super-talented and classy Hollywood couple! Please be sure to share their heartwarming story with your friends and family.
