The November, 2013 accident that claimed the life of Paul Walker has certainly left a mark on history. It has affected many of us who appreciated the work that he did but most importantly, it had an effect on his family.
Paul Walker’s daughter has now filed a lawsuit against Porsche, claiming that they are responsible for wrongful death. Porsche has not remained silent about that claim, and then fired back with a statement that says the car was not at fault but rather, Walker and Rodas died because of “reckless driving and excessive speed”
A representative of Porsche made the following statement on Tuesday…
“As we have said before, we are saddened whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities’ reports in this case clearly established that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed”
Police and local authorities have also made a thorough investigation of the accident, which involved a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. They stated that the death of Walker and Rodas was because of excessive speed.
The lawsuit that has been filed, however, says that the deaths occurred because Porsche neglected to install an electronic stability control system, leading to the car going out of control and crashing. A faulty seatbelt was also blamed for trapping Walker inside the car after the accident.
There is no figure on the damages for the lawsuit, although the suit states that they want to recover all damage, including lost income and earnings, both present and future. Considering the fact that Walker was a successful actor, the lawsuit could be significant.
