Many of us watch TV to escape the world in general or perhaps to simply relax for a few hours after a difficult day. Fortunately, not everybody shuts down when they are watching a television program and this man can be thankful for that person!
It happened when a woman by the name of Ryan Read was watching the show on HDTV, Flip or Flop. She noticed a strange lump in the throat of the host, and rather than simply shrugging it off, she sent an email to the production company and told him that he should see a physician immediately! Fortunately, for him, he took her advice and saw a doctor.
The lump that she saw on his neck was a malignant tumor. He was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
The lump was immediately removed but unfortunately, the cancer had already spread to the lymph nodes.
As a result of the cancer, Tarek had to undergo radioactive iodine therapy. This type of therapy required that he be isolated from everyone, including his family. It was to protect them from the harmful effects of the medication.
Fortunately, the cancer has not spread beyond the lymph nodes and he will know within a few weeks if he is now cancer free.
