The adjective most people would use to describe santa would be jolly, but it looks like you would need to add sweet to that list. After all, once you see this mall Santa in action, you can tell he really knows his stuff.
It really should come as no surprise, because this man has be the mall santa at the Eastland Mall for 30 years!. It is his belief that every child should experience meeting Santa in a warm and loving way.
His sojourn as Santa began when his younger brother was fighting with Leukemia. He wanted to spread love and a positive message, and he felt this was the best way to do it. One thing is certain, many of the people who live in Evansville, Indiana are happy to see him take his position every year, showing kindness to others in a special way.
One of the things that sets him apart from other mall Santas is his ability to improvise. When Donnie Walters took his son, Seke, to see Santa, the wait got the better of the lad and he fell asleep before he reached the big chair. Rather than having his father wake the child up for pictures, Santa got out of the chair and made this memory.
In addition, he had the young child continue sleeping for some additional precious pictures!
We can only imagine how much joy this family will get from these snapshots over the years.
The father later wrote his thoughts about the encounter:
“After falling asleep in line waiting, Santa asked us not to wake him and the outcome was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”
We think it’s pretty cute too!
