There are times when a dog may go through quite an ordeal in their life, and nobody is there to recognize it. From time to time, however, they still go through the ordeal but then their life is turned around by a very special event. That was what happened to Dory.
This poor dog was kept on a short chain and throughout her life, she was bred repeatedly. Animal control eventually heard about her plight and the family decided that they didn’t want anything to do with the dog from that point forward. That was the best thing that could’ve happened for Dory.
This is Dory. She was confined to a 4 foot chain and delivered multiple litters of puppies. Many of the puppies did not survive.
An animal control officer confronted the family, and they decided they no longer wanted the pregnant dog.
Clewiston Animal Control received the animal after she was surrendered, but due to overcrowding, there was concern that she wouldn’t make it out of the shelter alive.
Fortunately, a local foster mom took her in and prepared for the new babies.
The puppies came into the world one by one.
It took several hours, but she gave birth to eight puppies: three girls and five boys.
Both the mother and puppies are doing well and are healthy. The puppies are to be named after characters from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory
This is the last time she will ever be pregnant. Now she can know what it is like to live life without being used for breeding purposes.
After they are weaned, Dory will be spayed and then she will be up for adoption with the puppies.
