Several weeks ago, the Animal Rescue Team was alerted to an animal that needed rescued. She was a coyote, but the fact that she was still alive is nothing short of a miracle. She was blind, had been accidentally poisoned and then fell 30 feet into a dried up riverbed.
She was also suffering from a gunshot to the head and severe dehydration. The gunshot pierced her frontal lobe and caused her blindness. That is likely why she fell into the riverbed and she may have ingested rat poison.
After the Animal Rescue Team had been alerted to her situation, they moved in and provided her with the care she needed. What she provided in return was quite a surprise.
The coyote was in bad shape when she was brought in by the rescuers. She had become immediately blind from the gunshot and had fallen into a dried up riverbed, as well as eating rat poison.
She was on the verge of death when she was found by her rescuers. They even performed CPR while they were on the way to the rescue center. Against all odds, she survived the trip and started to recover.
If that wasn’t enough, there was another miracle waiting for this coyote.
The workers opened her pen to clean it one morning and they found four new baby coyote pups. Those “miracle pups” were healthy and were being cared for by their mother quite well.
The pups will stay with their mother until they are strong enough to make it on their own in the wild. The group stated on their Facebook page that she is the best mother they have ever witnessed.
The mother coyote is also staying with the team until she recovers. At that point, she will be moved to a wildlife sanctuary where she can live out the rest of her life safely, even though she is blind.
This coyote has been through quite an ordeal in the past few weeks but it is amazing how she is still able to care for her new pups during the time that she recovers.
