Man Given Ticket For Driving 88 mph In A DeLorean, Claims He Wasn’t Attempting Time Travel

Back in 1985, Doc Brown traveled through time in a DeLorean in Back to the Future. In order to do so, he had to get the car up to 88 mph. That wasn’t what he man in this story had in mind, but is does seem suspicious. Nigel Mills, a 55 year old man from Essex, England took his own DeLorean out for a spin. He wasn’t looking to travel through time but he was clocked at 88 mph, and he got a ticket for it.

Mills paid £22,000 for the car and he only takes it out on the road a few times every year. People watch him driving by, everywhere he goes.

“When I’m out in it a few people recognise it, they slow down and take pictures,” Mills told The Guardian. “Drivers take pictures out of their windows or try to film you and I get approached at petrol stations.”

Mills claimed the road was clear when he was caught speeding. He took the case to court and it was dismissed because the officers who wrote the ticket didn’t show up.
