When we send our children off to school, we trust that the school system is going to care for them and ensure that they are safe. Unfortunately, sometimes the school system falls short of the mark.
A 44-year-old teacher by the name of Lisa Thyre was arrested by police in Montrose. She was a teacher for the Colorado West Christian School, but now she is behind bars because of a poor choice, to say the least.
Lisa Thyre was arrested on Friday after a student’s father went to the police to complain about some inappropriate messages that came from the teacher to his son. The student has not been identified, but police are saying that they are a ‘teen’.
As a result of the messages that she sent, Thyre is facing two counts of unlawful electronic sexual communications and one count each of conspiracy to commit tampering with physical evidence and tampering with physical evidence.
At this time, there is not much that is known about this situation but investigators are saying school administrators are cooperating fully with the investigation. They are also asking if anybody has information about the case that they should contact the Montrose Police Department.
At first, Thyre was booked on a $10,000 bond but eventually, she posted a $250 bond. A judge has also issued a mandatory protective order against her. She should be back in court on January 16 for the formal filing of charges.
