We all need to make decisions in life but that doesn’t mean that every decision we make is going to be good. There are times when others may feel negatively about the decisions we make and it can even cause us to question ourselves.
One of the bigger decisions we will have to make is in regard to naming our children. We may consider some ancestor in the family that we want to honor or perhaps it may even be a fictional character that we admire.
What mother felt similar to this when she had twin boys and she named them after her favorite band. She thought that she was making the right choice but after others weighed in, now she has her questions.
The mother said: “I have always been a massive Oasis fan (sorry Blur fans) and they have influenced me and inspired me throughout my entire life.
“When I found out I was having two little twin boys, I thought it would be amazing to name them after the Gallagher brothers!
“I thought it was a sweet idea, but people seem to frown and laugh thinking it’s a joke!!”
The Gallagher brothers, Noel and Liam, were an important part of the band, Oasis that was very popular in the 90s. The mother thought that the baby names were meaningful but others had their doubts.
More than 200 people responded after she posted her question online. Some said that the names were common and weren’t unordinary. For example, one person responded ‘Liam and Noel are actually pretty nice mainstream names. It’s not like it’s a Ringo-type name or whatever.’
On the other hand, there were some who said that they weren’t a fan of either of the names and couldn’t understand why you would name two children within the same family because it was a bit strange.
This is a decision that she is going to have to live with for the rest of her life, as are the children. The good news is, that most people are not even going to realize who Oasis is by the time they hit middle school.
