When you lose your home to a fire, it’s as if your life has been ripped away from you. In many cases, you have spent a lot of time and have a lot of memories and that structure is gone.
One person who does this very well is Paris Hilton. Wildfires that have been recently sweeping through the area of Los Angeles where her home was have now taken it and burned it to the ground.
After the Pacific Palisades Fire erupted on January 7, it started moving its way through the Pacific coast to Pasadena. A number of other wildfires have also started in the area around Los Angeles.
The fire has killed a number of people and destroyed more than 1000 structures. Included in those structures is the home of Paris Hilton, and she had the rare opportunity of seeing it on TV.
Paris went on Twitter to say that she was watching when her family’s home ‘burned to the ground on live TV’. In her words, it’s not anything anyone should have to experience.
She wrote: “Heartbroken beyond words […] This home was where we built so many precious memories. It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London.
“While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family is safe. My heart and prayers are going out to every family affected by these fires.
“To all the people who have lost their homes, their memories, and their beloved pets.
“My heartaches for those still in harm’s way or mourning greater losses. The devastation is unimaginable. To know so many are waking up today without the place they called home is truly heartbreaking.”
She also said that her 11:11 Media Impact Team has already reached out to a number of nonprofit organizations to give some support. She said: “We’re committed to offering help as soon as possible and making a meaningful difference for those who need it most.”
She gives her thanks to the brave firefighters and first responders who are risking their lives to save everyone. She said: “You are true heroes. I am so grateful for your courage, dedication, and the incredible sacrifices you’re making to save lives and fight this unimaginable battle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
In the end, she said that she would try to stay safe and follow evacuation orders. It was her resolution: “Let’s protect one another and hold onto hope that these fires will soon be contained. Sending so much love and strength to all of you. We’re in this together, LA. Hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight. You never know when everything could change.”
