Musician Dad Records Video Of 2-Year-Old Son Singing Classic Elvis Song ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love’

Children have an uncanny the uncanny ability to absorb what’s happening around them and surprise their parents with knowledge no one suspects them of having.

Sometimes that can be a  bad thing, especially when you accidentally curse and your child finds it to be his or her new favorite word of the week. However, there are also times when it can be a wonderful life-affirming event that leaves parents breathless while pondering the possibilities.

Steven Converse is a guitarist from Modesto, California. His 2-year-old son, Daniel, is usually around when dad is making music at home. And naturally, he’s picked up on a couple of songs along the way.

Yet when Daniel suddenly when out of the blue, Daniel started singing the lyrics to the Elvis Presley hit classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” Steven and his wife were both delighted and more than a little shocked.

“To hear him, just like, memorize the words and sing it by himself was… kind of a special moment for us,” Steven said.

Like any good musician and father, Steven decided on the spot to encourage his son’s love for music. So he brought Daniel into his music studio and gave him a pair of headphones, then accompanied him on the guitar as they recorded a song.

Even though they only intended to capture this moment for family memories, but after steven uploaded it to Facebook, the video quickly went viral.

“Daniel’s first time trying the mic when he was still just 2,” Steven wrote on Facebook. “Begged to sing some Elvis. This video is still a daily watch for us at our house.”

And sure enough, Daniel really does know the song by heart! The toddler sings in the entire first and second verse and chorus in his sweet, innocent, childish voice before the video cuts out. And while he hasn’t memorized every single word, the melody is absolutely perfect!

For those of us who “can’t carry a tune in a bucket,” this toddler’s performance is especially impressive. Daniel already knows how to pace himself in time to the rhythm, change inflections for different verses, and basically give this incredible song the justice it deserves.

Outstanding job, Daniel!
