This ‘Gone With The Wind’ Star Celebrates Her 100th Birthday

When many of us think about gone with the wind, we think about characters such as Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara, and that famous scene at the end where he tells Miss Scarlett that frankly… well, you know the rest.

There were also many other notable stars in gone with the wind, including Olivia de Havilland. She played the part of Melanie Hamilton and, although you may or may not have followed her since those early days, she recently played in another role that is quite amazing. She celebrated her 100th birthday!

Not only is she a talented actress from Gone with the Wind, she is one that is remembered for her part on the silver screen of those days.

It doesn’t take much looking to see the charm in Olivia’s character, Melanie, as well as in the actress herself. She stands apart from many other actresses because of her talent and her strength of character.

During her time on the silver screen, she won two Oscars and she also wrote memoirs that later turned into a bestseller! She was also the first actress in history to win a court case against Warner Bros. After that court case, actors and actresses contracts became much more reasonable and fair.
