3-Year-Old Preschooler Chooses Her Own Outfit For School Photos

When we were very young, many of us could say that we absolutely loved superheroes. There was something about the fact that a superhuman being was out there taking care of us that just appealed to our senses. In fact, we may have even dressed up like a superhero at any opportunity. I know, for me, it was a cape that I wore to bed every night.

Some little children have more than a passing interest in superheroes, and that is the case for Kaylieann Steinbach. She may only be a three-year-old preschooler but she already owns a number of costumes, including Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Hulk and Thor. Out of all of them, however, Superman leads the list.

When it came time for Kaylieann to choose her outfit for her preschool picture, she didn’t hesitate.

“I always give her options each day for her to pick out what to wear,” her father Austin said. “In September, we went to the San Francisco Comic Con and she went as Supergirl to that. She refused to take off her costume after it.”

This is her fantastic school portrait. Not only does she look great in the Superman outfit, she has those adorable hairclips and a Superman dol.

“We got the doll from a collectible shop and it hasn’t left her side since, she even sleeps with him!” Austin said.

“I opened up the envelope and saw her with Superman and just thought, ‘She would, this is such a KJ picture,’” Austin said.

“What really made it was her arm placement around Superman, which made it look like a prom picture; that really made it even cuter,” he added, noting that it was also a huge hit when he shared it on Facebook and Reddit.

He was especially happy with how the deaf community responded. His little girl 75% deaf in both years, wears hearing aids and communicates with sign language.

“She loves using her hearing aids to her advantage, especially when it’s bath or bedtime,” he said. “She loves to take them out then respond with a loud ‘HUH??’ since she then can’t hear me anymore.”

“Reading how many people said seeing her picture made their day better is more than I could ever ask for.”
