Old Toys Get New Limbs so Kids Can Learn about Organ Transplants

At times, it is not what you are teaching children but it is how you are teaching them that is going to make a difference. A Japanese organization known as Second Life Toys is hoping they are able to hit the nail on the head. It is their desire to raise awareness about organ donation and they have a rather unique way of doing it.

When an older stuffed toy loses a limb or become damaged, this organization comes in to provide new limbs for those stuffed animals. It is possible to donate your own unwanted toys for this purpose.

The ideas rather adorable on the surface but there is a message behind it. Organ donation doesn’t get a lot of press time in Japan but there are around 14,000 people on waiting lists for organs. Only 300 per year receive the organs they need. It is their hope that this campaign will give some needed attention to organ donation.

Look at some of their unique creations below.
