When you are a policeman, you never know what you are going to run into when you show up for work that day. Some days may be somewhat routine but there are other days that are really going to define your job in ways that are unbelievable. This particular day was one of those days for this police officer, because he was called on to do something heroic.
Officer Rafael Burgos is a 20 year veteran of the force and he arrived on the scene of a building fire at a local pet shop. The fire had already advanced significantly and there was thick smoke coming from the building and flames could be seen inside.
Burgos didn’t hesitate, he broke into the shop and began searching for anyone trapped inside. When he confirmed that there were no people, he began to free the animals who were trapped in the store.
Every animal from the store was rescued. There were dozens of pets who were carried out of the building in the arms of this brave police officer. He even sustained an injury because of smoke inhalation.
In the end, the animals were sent to the veterinarian for necessary care and officer Burgos went to the local hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
