Diana’s Legacy of ‘The People’s Princess’ Believed to Be ‘In Good Hands’ with Kate Middleton

Since her marriage to Prince William in 2011, Kate Middleton has proven to be much more than her title, The Dutchess of Cambridge. Along with her very long list of official royal duties, she’s also the patron of over 20 military and charitable organizations. And like her beloved late-mother-in-law, Princess Diana, Kate has shown again and again that she’s a royal with a big heart — especially when it comes to children.

In fact, most of Kate’s work centers around working with children. She’s also the mother of three children: Princess Charlotte, Prince George, and Prince Louis. Kate loves children, which could be why many fans have dubbed her “The Children’s Princess.” And many believe that she’s well on her way to filling the shoes of “The People’s Princess” someday.

Kate has paid visits to baby classes and nurseries and strives to raise awareness about the importance of early child development. The Court Circular reports that the royal mother of three has been a very vocal proponent of improving children’s mental health and development through her public work.

She’s also launched a public survey campaign to learn the perspectives of people across the U.K. regarding raising children.

Kate’s Under5s survey is credited with being one of the largest conversations to date about early childhood development. The Dutchess said:

“Parents, carers, and families are at the heart of caring for children in the formative years, so that is why I want to listen to them. As a parent, I know how much we cherish the future health and happiness of our children. I want to hear the key issues affecting our families and communities so I can focus my work on where it is needed most. My ambition is to provide a lasting change for generations to come.”

Town and Country Mag reports that if William were to ascend to the throne and become king, kate would most likely take the title of Queen Consort. And The Telegraph reports that she may inherit Diana’s famous moniker one day.

“The Duchess, naturally, has been endlessly compared to Diana… all have led to whispers of a new ‘People’s Princess.'”

According to author Tina Brown, who wrote “The Diana Chronicles,” the future of the British kingdom now rests on Kate’s “slim shoulders.” Brown told Page Six that if Kate ever left the family similar to how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left, “it would be a disaster” She continued:

“It would, I think, crumble at the moment without her because she’s the only modern, beautiful woman who’s well-educated, substantial in herself, who’s actually wanting to commit herself to the rigors of this institution. Not many young women could do that.”

Brown added that Kate required “a lot of care and strategy to end up married to William.” And said:

“They were madly in love all the way through but… making it from the loving girlfriend to the future queen, that’s an obstacle course. And it’s like snakes and ladders. At any moment she could have stepped on the wrong square and had a snake.”

A Royal fan once told Kate she would make a fantastic Princess of Whales. Kate replied, motioning over to William, “That’s very kind. I’m in good hands.”
