She Paid £35 For Her Wedding Dress And It Is Blowing People’s Minds

Ask any bride and they will tell you, it can be expensive to go through a wedding. It doesn’t matter if you are talking about purchasing a dress or any other aspect of the wedding, there is a price tag associated with it.

One bride who knows this all too well is Cat Wilkinson. When she and her longtime boyfriend, Mike were married, she walked down the aisle in a beautiful dress. Typically, that is the most expensive part of the wedding but this 29-year-old girl found the perfect option at a charity shop for £35.

This incredible find happened on the day after she got engaged to her significant other. It’s a beautiful white gown with lots of lace and long sleeves. She found it in York at a Sue Rider shop.

Wilkinson spoke with the Daily Mail, saying how she visited the vintage bridal store where she bought the dress. At the store, they told her that it was from the 1950s and was homemade. The dress was altered by adding buttons to the back and some floral detail, but otherwise, it was the same as when she purchased it.

She said on social media:

On the day that Mike proposed to me he took me for a night in York. The next day I was looking in the charity shops (as I often do 🤭) and saw the dress on one of the rails. It was a charity shop on two floors and I was upstairs and phoned Mike to tell him not to come up while I tried something on and to ask if the shop volunteer could come up to take a photo.

I never expected the dress to fit me – my main reason to try it on was to see if the image of what I wanted that I had in my mind for so long was correct – and it was! ‘Myself and the lady who worked in the store couldn’t believe that the dress fitted me perfectly, it was as if it was meant to be. ‘The lady kindly took a photo of the dress and I excitedly sent it to my sister and mum who gave me the reassurance I needed to buy the dress. Although with the £35 price tag I didn’t need much reassurance!

In the end, she hopes that her wedding dress is a reminder that things don’t have to be expensive to be special.
