Her Son Died From This Infection And Most People Have No Idea It Even Exists

There are times when a relatively common condition can be dangerous or perhaps even fatal but far too many people are unaware of it. That is the case with sepsis, and since September is Sepsis Awareness Month, it is a good idea for everyone to familiarize themselves with this problem. When an individual has an infection and it overwhelms the body, it could lead to sepsis.

Sepsis is an extreme response to an infection and it could flood the body with chemicals that would fight the threat. Over time, sepsis can damage the organs and it could even be life-threatening in its later stages. If that is the case, it is typically referred to as septic shock.

In the UK, approximately 100,000 people are admitted to the hospital with sepsis every year and 31,000 people die as a result of sepsis. Melissa Mead is all too familiar with losing somebody to this condition.

This is a horrible condition and something that no parent wants to go through. We hope that this family is able to heal from this tragedy and that others are able to avoid it thanks to their kind actions.
