With the exception of the fashion industry, who seem obsessed with skinny women regardless of the dangers that message puts out to young girls, everyday people’s opinion of what is attractive varies wildly.
Women shouldn’t need to feel pressurised into being a certain shape or size, provided they are happy in their body, that’s what should matter. But new research shows that ladies with larger butts are not only smarter but more resistant to chronic diseases than their thinner counterparts. Apparently, different amounts of fat in the body, causes the body to react differently.
The fat is not the only factor, though, it’s the location where it is stored that makes the biggest difference. Fat that is retained in the stomach, for instance, is not healthy as it is metabolically active, according to Dr. Robert Kushner of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Apparently if you have excess fat in your bottom and lower thighs, this contains less cytokines. Excess cytokines have been linked with insulin resistance which can then lead to diabetes. Also ladies, the lower your fat geographically in your body, the less cholesterol and vice versa.
A large butt can therefore, mean you are healthier, have lower cholesterol and may be less prone to diabetes, so girls, finally having a big butt may actually be beneficial.
