Meet the Swedish Vallhund, a Wolf That Stays a Pup Forever

There are many dog breeds, but some are so rare that you may never have heard of them before. That doesn’t mean that the breed doesn’t have much to bring to the table, and at times, they can be absolutely adorable.

That is the case with the Swedish Vallhund, a rare breed of dog that is thought to have originated over 1000 years ago, during the time of the Vikings! This breed is also known as the Swedish Shepherd or it may simply be called the Vallhund. When translated, it means “Westerngothia Spitz Dog.”

They are rather athletic dogs and often compete in agility competitions. They are born with a regular tail but according to breed standards, it is cut off at a young age. There is much to be learned about these animals, but for now, we will enjoy some beautiful pictures of this unusual breed.
