Circus Elephants Freed from Years of Abuse

There is no doubt that going to the circus is a magical event for many people. When you see the gymnasts defying gravity, clowns doing unbelievably funny skits and you see everyone having a good time, it seems as if it is a wonderful place. Not everybody has the same experience.

People are beginning to reveal what is actually taking place behind the scenes at the circus. You might be quite amazed with what really happens when the lights go out and the curtain closes at night. There are many cases in which animals are stuffed into tiny cages, chained to the ground and abused.

Now that these issues are being exposed, changes are taking place. That change came about for these 4 elephants, who spent their lives amazing the audience at the Rambo Circus in India. After years of abuse, they have finally been freed from their cages.

This is their story.

1

There is been an ongoing issue with circuses exploiting animals for entertainment. This normally occurs with elephants, it takes place with lions, bears and tigers as well.

2

Goldie, Sylvie, Pearl, and Ruby are four elephants who were subject to cruel treatment by their former circus owners. They endured that treatment for decades.

3

A nonprofit charity, named Wildlife SOS, helps animals in India who are being abused.

4

“The latest rescue of the Precious Four is one of our most dangerous, exhausting and complicated rescues to date.”

5

Protesters were on scene and were threatening those who were rescuing these wonderful elephants. It took 15 hours and a lot of police to get the job done.

6

The screaming protesters, flashes from cameras and the distrust of humans had the elephants quite agitated. They almost broke out of their chains.

7

The rescuers continue to help the elephants, despite the difficulties. They created dirt ramps with a backhoe to help the elephants get on the truck.

8

The elephants were able to be kept calm enough so they didn’t stampede. There were finally on their way to safety.

9

After they arrived at the sanctuary, they received the care they needed. A veterinarian was on-site to take care of their feet because they had been neglected for decades.

10

The elephants began to grow accustomed to their new surroundings.

“Trees are very exciting for them and right now as we speak, the gang of girls are busy tearing the leaves and scratching their bums on the trees.”

11

“After a lifetime of misery and abuse, the Precious Four are finally beginning to understand the true meaning of love and empathy.”

We wish them success in all they do
