There has certainly been a lot of talk over the years about Dawn French and her glowing complexion. It seems as if any time she turns up, regardless of whether it is on the screen or on the red carpet, she is hit with many questions about her beauty secret.
The 58-year-old comedienne has now revealed her secret, a bottle of Nivea. That’s right, the Nivea Q10 plus anti-wrinkle energizing day cream is her cream of choice, which surprises many people because it is quite inexpensive.
Recently, she posted a picture on Twitter of a tub she bought in Boots and SuperDrug with the caption, “No one is paying me to say this, but in answer to all ‘skin’ enquiries, please don’t spend tons, this is it for me.”
Of course, Dawn French is perfectly capable of trying more expensive creams, and she has tried some that cost up to £595 for a small tub, but she says it is exactly the same as Nivea!
Incidentally, Dawn also cleans her face with a muslin cloth. It is something that her grandmother taught her long ago to keep a clear and glowing complexion. In her words, “It is the best way to get any rubbish off your face.”
Nivea Q10 anti-wrinkle day cream hit the market in 1998 and millions of women around the world use it on a daily basis. The coenzyme helps to protect the skin from sagging and it is something that naturally decreases in the human body as we age.
Q10 is also an antioxidant, and can be found in a variety of foods, including avocado, nuts and fish.
Marilyn Monroe also used Nivea moisturizer, and she would apply thick layers under her makeup. It was what gave her that on camera glow that she was so famous for.
As Dawn French arrived for the Glamour Awards in London, she looked absolutely stunning alongside her costar, Jennifer Saunders.
Dawn French has also shown her recent weight loss and the Vicar of Dibley star hit the red carpet wearing a chic black draped gown and silver jewelry. She has expressed concerns over her health since turning 50.
“When you’re over 50 you have to pay attention to your weight a bit. I want to be there for my kid. I have a lot of exciting adventures to do, and I had ballooned more than I had wanted.”
The Nivea product that Dawn French uses also contains goji berry extract. It has a retail price of £9.99 but you can often find it for £5.
