When a stray dog was found in Los Angeles, nobody thought it was anything out of the ordinary. The dog was in fairly bad shape, underweight and infested with parasites. He was also suffering from mange, so residents called a local shelter.
What the shelter found when they came out, however, is that this dog was not a normal dog. He had gray fur and pointy ears. As it turns out, he was a wolf-dog hybrid. He had special needs, and he could not stay in the shelter.
Even though shelters are known for caring for stray animals, they can’t care for wild animals. Unfortunately, this stray was going to be put down.
This type of animal is sometimes tricky, because they have characteristics of both wolves and dogs. Most people can’t care for them properly, but there was one organization that was able to care for this wonderful animal. Read on to find out how this Wolf-dog found a new home and his soulmate.
When they found Castiel wandering in Los Angeles, they thought he was an ordinary dog. He was wearing a collar, which makes the rescuers think he was a pet.
Due to his skittish behavior and malnourishment, they felt that his former home was not a good home.
Castiel was taken to a local shelter, where they found out he was about one-year-old but they also discovered he was part Wolf. He had to find a proper facility quickly or be put down.
There was no room in local sanctuaries, so they took him to where there was room.
He was frightened, and he would not leave the corner, no matter what they tried.
Rescuers were able to give him a bath and treat him. He needed it desperately, because he had mange and parasites.
The rescue organization held a contest to name their new resident, and they chose Castiel. Thanks to their efforts, he was able to be transformed into a healthy and adorable Wolf-dog
His fur came back nicely and his infections cleared up. With proper feeding, he gained lots of weight.
He already looks like a completely different animal! It was now time for him to go meet his new friends
He may have been neglected or abused, but in any case, he was very shy. He didn’t make connections with other wolves or dogs. A pack connection is imperative when you are a wolf.
He was loving the outdoors. He also became interested in other animals, although he was not approaching them.
It was decided that he needed a little love to help him heal.
They introduced him to several female wolves, including Tenali, a female wolf-dog.
Tenali is not only known for being sweet, she also has plenty of energy. Castiel was overwhelmed at first.
After a while, Castiel began to warm up to his new companion. After realizing that she wasn’t going to hurt him, they began playing and spending time together.
Just like humans, it took some interaction with someone else to open Castiel’s heart and help him heal from the trauma he experienced in the past.
Their bond continues to grow every day and Castiel is getting happier and healthier.
