What comes to your mind when you think of a hero? Like many people, you might consider a comic book character, like superman or spiderman but heroes come in many shapes and sizes. Sometimes, they may work behind the scenes, such as firemen or paramedics and, at times, they may show up in the most unexpected places. That is the case with Brad Pitt, who many people look to as being an actor but for 100 families, they look at him as being a hero.
The most destructive hurricane to happen in recent history is Katrina. In the area of New Orleans, many homes were not only damaged, they were completely destroyed. Rather than simply watching what was taking place on the news, Brad Pitt got involved. He founded the Make It Right Foundation, designed to help the victims of that hurricane rebuild again.
In the area hit the hardest by the hurricane, everything was flooded. Thanks to the efforts of this heroic man and his foundation, 109 homes were built for families in the area.
Pitt grew close to those families while working on the project.

Pitt and his wife, Angelina Jolie bought a house in New Orleans in 2005 so they could be close to the project.
The actor held meetings with architects and residents to discuss the future of the city
He was involved in directing the volunteers
He gave speeches at fundraising events
He worked closely with the construction of the homes
The homes were built with the latest eco-technologies. They were even equipped with solar panels
The area looks quite different from the post-flood images
It has even become a local attraction and tourists visit the area regularly
The homes are unique and painted different colors
Each house is wooden an has it’s own veranda
The inside of the homes is spacious with plenty of light
The kitchens are furnished and include a steel stove and refrigerator
