Devoted McDonald’s Employee Gets The Ultimate Send-Off After 32 Years Of Service

We live in a time in which many people tend to switch jobs and sometimes, even careers every few years. Being at one job for 32 years is quite an accomplishment, and it is a source of pride for those who are able to do it.

Freia David is just such an individual, as she worked the French fry station at the local McDonald’s for over three decades. During that time, she became a beloved employee and friend.

Unfortunately, many people simply shrug off working at McDonald’s as not being a “real job.” For many people, however, it is an honest job that pays an honest wage.

David also has Down syndrome, and that means her employment brings along extra challenges that other workers may not have to deal with. Since she started the job in 1984, at the age of 20, she has been heading off to work every day and serving fries to her customers.

There are a lot of misconceptions about Down syndrome, and some people may even look down on those who have it. More and more people with Down syndrome are educating others about it, however, and it has led to all a lot more tolerance.

David retired from her position and was given an awesome sendoff and retirement party. Her career shows that, regardless of your challenges, you can push forward and accomplish great things.

Freia David began working at McDonald’s in the 1980s. She lives in an assisted living facility for children and adults with developmental diseases.

The center where she lives partners with local businesses to provide employment and other opportunities for individuals with disabilities. It gives them a chance to be a greater part of the community.

She worked at the McDonald’s fry station for 32 years, five days a week from 11 AM to 2 PM. She became friends to many of her customers. Now that she is 52, she is retiring and they threw her retirement bash that was befitting such a dedicated employee.

She was honoured at the McDonald’s where she worked and the public also dropped by to enjoy some free French fries.

4

She was also awarded a certificate in recognition of her achievements. The owner and operator of the local McDonald’s said:

“Freia’s smile, her enthusiasm, and her daily hugs made our restaurant more than just a restaurant.”

5

“She is loved and respected by all of our employees, customers, and anyone she has come into contact with,” McCoy continued.

“We are so sad that she is retiring, but very happy for the time we had to work with her. The McDonald’s of Needham will never be the same without Freia David.”

David also served up fries one last time.

7

She plans on continuing with programs at the center where she lives. She enjoys listening to oldies music and drawing.

8

The center has provided jobs for decades for their residents. They couldn’t be prouder of David for her career.
