So Rare That It Has Not Been Spotted In 20 Years. Meet The “Magic Rabbit”

There are a number of animals that have been listed on the endangered species list and we may know about many of them. For example, the giant panda was considered endangered for many years but, thanks to conservation efforts and worldwide attention, it has been moved from the endangered list to one that is less threatening.

This particular animal is one of the most endangered animals that exist in the world. Although it is rare, it is also extremely beautiful and will probably be one of the cutest animals you will see in your lifetime. Although you may never have heard of them before, they are the lli Pika, and you can find them in China’s Tinshan Mountains.

Their official name is “Ochotona iliensis” and were named after Li’s hometown. Li is a conservationist who also captured these adorable images back in 2014. Not much is known about these animals but they think they are related to rabbits.

The lli Pika population has been declining since they were first discovered (almost 70%). Li admits that he would feel guilty if they were to go extinct. He took an early retirement so he could study these animals.

It is estimated that the current lli Pika population is less than 1000. They are referred to as “Magic rabbit” but the threat to the species is anything but magical. Global warming and pollution have been contributing to the problem.

No official organization has stepped forward to study the conservation of these wonderful animals. It is the hope of Li that somebody will join his efforts and continue the work he is doing when he is too old to do it.
