There are certain moments that many people wait a lifetime to experience. This is especially true for students, who often wait for moments such as getting their driver’s license or graduation, and it seems as if they are never going to take place.
One of those moments is the high school prom, and it is something that students long to take part in. They often envision the perfect scenario, but sometimes, they need to take things to an even higher level.
Such was the case for a senior named Dakota Wollan. He was attending high school at Watford City high school in North Dakota and getting ready for the prom. The problem was there were plenty of people to ask, and he had a tough decision to make.
When it really came down to it, he had only one choice, and it made people everywhere fall in love with Dakota. He walked up to his 92-year-old great-grandmother and asked her to be his date for the prom.
In speaking with a local news station, he said:
“I have this old truck she gave me, it’s a 1985 ford she handed down to me and I got it running again. So, I took that truck and made a sign.”
The funny thing is, Dakota admits that he was nervous about asking his great-grandmother to the prom. In the end, he shouldn’t have been nervous because she was more than happy to say yes.
His great-grandmother, Madeleine Miller, said she had never been to a prom. She also wondered why he would want to take his 92-year-old great-grandmother when there were so many young girls at school.
Dakota said he wouldn’t have attended his last prom if it hadn’t been for his great-grandmother. Age didn’t make a difference to him and he wanted her to have a chance to attend her first.
As it turns out, they were a smash hit. Dakota said everyone went wild when they walked out on the floor!
