To help reduce waste and plastic that harms the environment, Original Unpackaged (Original Unverpackt) in Berlin, Germany introduces a packaging-free supermarket shopping experience. According to its founders Sara Wolf and Milena Glimbovski, 16 million tons of packaging ended up as waste each year in Germany alone.
With this concept, Original Unpackaged shoppers will have to bring their own containers or rent them from the supermarket. The concept is not really new, as similar grocery stores have been established in London (now closed) and in Austin, Texas (still struggling). Hope this one will work.
