In the jungles of Columbia, near the area of Tequendama Falls is a strange building that would likely make you stop in your tracks. This is no scene out of a scary movie but rather, it’s real life.
This building, which is now known as the Tequendama Falls Museum of Biodiversity and Culture was at one times called the Hotel del Salto. What are the secrets of this hotel?
The hotel was first built in 1923 and was a playground for the elite in Columbia
The building continued to be used by the rich in Columbia for some 30 years. It was a beautiful building and the views of the falls were stunning…
After some time had passed, the people who visited the mansion started to use it as a hotel.
It met with a sudden end, however, when people suddenly stopped visiting.
The hotel sat abandoned and started to be taken over by the natural surroundings. One of the reasons why the hotel was abandoned was water pollution.
Although the river that flows by the hotel is still polluted, it was another issue that caused people to avoid the hotel.
According to legend, natives jumped from the cliffs in order to escape from attackers. It was said that they would turn into eagles when they jumped. Guests of the hotel began to recreate the scene, leading to many deaths.
The building got a makeover, starting in 1990.
The hotel is now a museum. Although it is beautiful, it still holds a frightening mystery that many people try to avoid.
