Millions of animals, both cats and dogs, end up in animal shelters every year. The vast majority of them are either found on the street or are in deplorable conditions and it is only a small percentage that are brought in by their owners. Unfortunately, many of those animals are never adopted.
That is especially the case with black shelter cats, which have the lowest adoption rate and the highest possibility of being euthanized. Although black cats certainly do have a lot to give, many people still hold onto the superstition that black cats are bad luck. These beautiful cats deserve a home, as do all shelter animals.
