If you stop for a moment and try to remember some famous cats, there may be one or two that come to mind. Many cats are remembered because their owners are famous but for Tombili, that fame was gained on his own. Even now, he is being remembered thanks to receiving his very own statue.
Tombili first became well-known when somebody took a picture of him chilling out on the streets of Istanbul. It wasn’t long before the picture went viral so when he passed away in August, he was honoured in a special way. That relaxed pose has been immortalized in the form of a bronze statue where he was originally photographed.
Tombili passed away recently but he is one cat that will not be forgotten.
That is because somebody made a statue of him
It’s a bronze statue and it sits at the same spot where his famous photograph was taken.
Even cats from the neighbourhood came by to pay their respects.
On October 4, the statue is officially unveiled. It is also World Animal Day.
Thanks to the statue and the fact that the picture went viral, this is one cat who will remain famous forever.
RIP, Tombili!
