As a pet owner, you never really know where life is going to take you. That was the case with Nolan and Richard Davis, who brought a dog home to surprise the children. That dog, Patches, was just what those children wanted but it wasn’t long before they started noticing something they weren’t expecting.
Patches may have started out small but he continued to get bigger and bigger. Unfortunately, the Davis family lived in a small home and a large dog was just not fitting into the plan. A family meeting was held and the parents announced that Patches had to go.
Their son insisted it was a bad idea. He had become quite attached to Patches and the dog was his best friend. Nola decided to hold off on the decision for a few more days.
That night, Nola was taking a bath when something quite odd happened; Patches charged into the bathroom. This was strange behavior for the dog, because he absolutely hated getting a bath and he avoided the bathroom at all cost.
He then started biting on Nola’s wrists. He wasn’t doing it to break the skin, he was pulling on her. Nola got out of the tub and when she opened the door, she discovered that the entire house was on fire. Nola was guided by patches through the flames to safety.
The family was safely waiting outside and once Nola was out, she tried to go back in but patches blocked her entry. It was then that the house exploded!
This heroic dog saved Nola’s life. He was awarded by the Red Cross but most importantly, the Davis family decided they would keep this amazing pooch.
